Biography: Carrie Underwood is an American actress, singer and songwriter. She auditioned for the television talent hunt American Idol and also went on to win it. Her debut album Some Hearts (2005) was a smash hit and made Underwood a singing sensation. The album went on to become the best-selling solo female debut album in country music history and the best-selling country album of the last ten years. Her subsequent albums were Carnival Ride (2007), Play On (2009) and Blown Away (2012). Underwood has been showered with many accolades for her talent and work as a singer. Some of these include including six Grammy Awards, sixteen Billboard Music Awards, eleven Academy of Country Music Awards and eight American Music Awards, along with being nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song. She was also the top-ranked female artist on Billboard's Best Country Artists of the 2000s list and Time magazine has listed Underwood as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.
