Biography: Jayasudha Kapoor (born Sujatha Nidudavolu) is an actress-turned-politician who has worked predominantly in Telugu Cinema. Jayasudha made her film debut at the age of 12 as Jamuna's daughter in the Telugu film Pandanti Kapuram (1972). She acted in a number of films in Telugu and Tamil mostly under Balachander's direction—Arangetram, Sollathaan Ninaikkiren (1973), Naan Avanillai (1974), Apoorva Raagangal, Idi Katha Kaadu. She changed her name to Jayasudha, since there was already another actress named Sujatha. While her debut role as heroine in the Telugu film Lakshmana Rekha (1975) got her attention, it was really the title role in Jyothi (remake of the Hindi film Mili starring Jaya Bhaduri) that made her a big star in Telugu films. Her other notable films are Money (1973), Yugandhar (1979), Illalu, Adavi Ramudu (1977), Premabhishekam (1981) etc. She has also worked in Kannada, Malayalam, and three Hindi films. Jayasudha has acted in 225 Telugu films and has won Flimfare Awards for Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress in South and Nandi awards. She turned to politics and was Congress MLA from Secunderabad.
