He acted as a villain in Olavum Theravum in 1969 and that was a defining moment in his career, as he went on to play the negative role in a number of movies thereon. He acted in almost 350 movies. His last film was Ente Veedu Appuvinteyum directed by Sibi Malayil and after an 8-year-long hiatus made a cameo appearance in Traffic. He received the J. C. Daniel Award in 2011.
