Biography: Mohan Babu is a prominent Indian film producer, actor and director, who has worked mostly in Telugu and Tamil films. Babu got his first big break as an actor in the 1975 film Swargam Narakam directed by Dasari Narayana Rao. Babu played the negative role in the movie and it was commercially a huge success. It was after this movie that his birth name Bakthavatsalam Naidu changed to Mohan Babu. After that he was seen in a number of movies as a comic villain before getting the lead role in movies such as Khadi Kalidasu, Ketugadu, Gruhapravesham, Assembly Rowdy, Allari mogudu among others. With over 500 movies to his credit, Babu was showered with admiration during his career. He has received the Filmfare Best Actor Award (Telugu), for his work in the multi-starrer Pedarayudu. In 2007, he received the CineMAA Award for Best Supporting Actor in Yamadonga. Mohan Babu was conferred an honorary doctorate from University of California, Berkely for his contribution to the field of cinema and education.
