Biography: Nutan’s full name is Nutan Samarth Behl. In a career spanning over four decades, she appeared in more than 70 films. Apart from her beauty, her simplicity and natural acting won her accolades. Daughter of actor/director Shobhna Samarth, Nutan’s debut was her mother’s film Hamari beti. She was 14 years old then. She played the lead in iconic movies such as Sujata, Bandini, Seema, Milan, Main tulsi tere aangan ki, Anari, Tere ghar ke saamne, Saraswatichandra, Anuraag and Saudagar. Nutan has also won the Miss India pageant. She made a great pair with Dev Anand and Raj Kapoor. She held the record of winning maximum number of Filmfare awards for best actress, a record which was broken by her niece Kajol. She still holds the record of being the oldest actor to get a Filmfare for best actress at the age of 42. Nutan's sister Tanuja is also and actor. In later years, she did memorable character roles – Karma, Naam and Meri Jung. She married Rajnish Behl and her son Mohnish Behl is also an actor. Nutan was awarded the Padma Shri and a postage stamp too has been issued with her photo on it. She succumbed to lung cancer in 1991 at the age of 54.
