Biography: Sadashiv Amrapurkar was a noted actor in Marathi and Hindi movies. His recent demise was a big loss for the film fraternity. From his college days onwards, Amrapurkar was interested in acting and theatre. His debut in the Marathi film industry was with 22 June 1897 directed by Jayoo Patwardhan and Nachiket Patwardhan. He made his Hindi film debut in Govind Nihalani's Ardha Satya (1983) for which he won a Filmfare award. In his career spanning across almost two decades, Amrapurkar acted in 300 movies in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Oriya, and Telugu. After doing minor roles, he got his big break as the main negative role in the Dharamendra-starrer Hukumat which went on to be a blockbuster. Mohre, Khatron Ke Khiladi, Kaal Chakra, Eeshwar, Elaan-E-Jung, Farishtay, Veeru Dada, Naaka Bandi and Begunaah are some of the movies in which he essayed the negative role; Aankhen, Ishq, Coolie No. 1, Gupt: The Hidden Truth, Aunty No. 1, Jai Hind, Master and Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United are some of the movies in which he did comic roles. He received the Filmfare Award for Best Performance in a Negative Role in 1991 for Sadak.
