Biography: One of the most iconic figures of Tamil cinema, Sivaji Ganesan has a career spanning across an astounding five decades and credited acting in over 300 movies. Throughout his successful movie career, Ganesan has starred in not only Tamil, but also Kannada, Telegu, Malayalam and Hindi movies. His unique style of dialogue delivery, which was very lyrical and mellifluous and his deep understanding of the Indian classical dance form made him stand out. After his debut film Parasakthi, directed by the famous directors Krishnan- Panju, he went on to become one of the most popular actors of his era. For his immense contribution to the world of cinema, Ganesan has been showered with awards and accolades. One of them is the Best Actor Award at the Afro-Asian Film Festival in Cairo (1960), making him the first ever Indian actor to have won an international award. He has also been conferred the title Nadigar Thillagam (the pride of actors).
