Biography: Sivakumar is a well known actor in the South Indian film industry, where he has played a number of leading roles as well as that of supporting ones. He made his entry into the movie industry with the Tamil movie Kaakum Karangal (1965). Sivakumar essentially started off with a number of supporting roles before playing the lead character. Some notable Tamil films in which his work as a supporting actor was recognized were Kandan Karunai, Thunivae Thozhan and Uyarndha Manidhan. From the mid 1970s to the late 1980s, Sivakumar played the leading actor in Kollywood with movies such as Annakili, Rosaappo Ravikkai Kaari, Vandichakkaram and Sindhu Bhairavi in his kitty. Till date he is credited with having acted in over 200 movies. He has received a number of awards for his contribution to cinema including the Filmfare Awards (three times) and is also a recipient of Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. His roles in Marupakkam, which won the Golden Lotus Award for Best Feature Film and Sindhu Bhairavi speak volume of his versatility and dexterity as an actor. In the late 1990s, he made his debut on the small screen and is well known for his role in the famous TV serial Chithi. Besides being an accomplished actor, Sivakumar is also a painter and a public speaker.
