When I used to see myself kissing on screen, I did not feel good myself and I can understand what the audience must have felt. There was a time when people came up to me and said that our kids love you but they cannot go to see your films.

It is yet to be seen how marriage has affected my image!

I don’t have the discipline to be a director. It’s a lot of work and I’m terribly lazy. And a director takes a film back with him even after pack-up and shooting. An actor can switch off.

Throughout college days I was on the black list. A couple of times I was thrown out, but somehow I found my way back in. College was fun initially in junior college, but towards the end it got boring. You know, no one ever hangs out at Sydenham-we would always be at other colleges like Xavier’s and HR. And I was going through life blind-folded. I had no clue what I wanted to do.

Known popularly as the Serial Kisser of Bollywood, Emraan Hashmi is one of the most daring young actors to have entered Bollywood in the last decade. Born in Mumbai on 24 March 1979 to Anwar Hashmi and Maherahh Hashmi, Emraan debuted in his uncle Mahesh Bhatt’s 2003 film Footpath. However, what got him into limelight and earned him millions of fans was his role in the 2004 film Murder alongside Mallika Sherawat that turned out to be one of the biggest hits of the year. Before starting  out as an actor, he assisted Vikram Bhatt on the 2002 film Raaz.

After that he went on to act in several small budget commercial films produced by his uncle Mahesh Bhatt which were increasingly successful yet he was criticized for repeating himself in those roles often. Yet he stuck in and id a variety of films where his acting was much appreciated. And though critics lambasted him, his fans grew steadily on the basis of the characters that played which normal people could identify with. Some of his most popular films include Zehar, Kalyug, Gangster, Awarapan, Jannat,Raaz, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai, Shanghai and The Dirty Picture.

Recently, he was approached to play a role in Oscar winning filmmaker Danis Tanovic’s upcoming film that is being shot in India. He also walked the red carpet at the Berlin Film Festival along with Tanovic, a move that shows the international filmmakers too have taken notice of the interesting young actor that Emran is!
