Biography: Popularly known as KJo, Karan Johar dons many hats – director, producer, writer, host, fashion designer to name a few. Son of Hiroo and Yash Johar, he heads Dharma Productions. Karan started his career as assistant director in Aditya Chopra’s Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, in which he also had a cameo. He made his directorial debut with Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which was a blockbuster. Having made romance and family drama his forte, Karan has some of Hindi filmdom’s biggest hits to his credit, such as Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Ghum, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and My name is Khan. His rapport with Shah Rukh Khan is legendary and the star has given some memorable performances in Karan’s movies. With great success at the box office, Karan became a household name with his popular appearances on TV as the host on Koffee with Karan and judge on Jhalak Dikhla Jaa. As a producer he has worked with lot of new directors and actors, the cast of Student of the Year being a good example of this.
