Biography: Mala Sinha (original name Alda Sinha) is famous actress from the Hindi film industry. Originally from Nepal, Sinha has also acted in Bengali and Nepali films. Sinha started her career as child artist in Bengali films Jai Vaishno Devi followed by Shri Krishan Leela, Jog Biyog and Dhooli. Her cinematic debut was director Ardhendu Bose's movie Roshanara (1952). She went on to become a popular leading actress in Hindi films from the early 1950s until the late 1970s. Sinha has starred in over a hundred films: popular ones include Pyaasa (1957), Dhool Ka Phool (1959), Anpadh, Dil Tera Deewana ( both 1962), Gumrah (1963), Himalaya Ki God Mein (1965), Hariyali Aur Rasta, Bahurani, Aasra, Do Kaliyaan, Gumrah, Aankhen, Baharen Phir Bhi Aayengi and Aankhen (1968).In 1966, Sinha acted in a Nepali film called Maitighar and went on to marry her co-star from the film C.P. Lohani. She has also acted in many Bengali films, the last one as main female lead was Kabita (1977). Mala Sinha has won four Filmfare Awards as Best Actress as well as Star Screen Lifetime Achievement Award (2007), Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards: Phalke Icon Cine Artiste Award (2013) and several other awards.
