Biography: Manisha Koirala is an Indian actress of Nepalese descent. She belongs to the politically prominent Koirala family in Nepal. She started off with the Nepalese movie, Pheri Betaula. Her Bollywood debut was the super successful Saudagar. She became an established star in commercial movies with hits like Gupt, 1942 – a love story and Agnisakshi to her credit. She did romantic films like Akele hum akele tum and Mann, action movies like Kacche dhaage and Company and the hit Tamil film Bombay. She also starred in Khamoshi – the musical, which was a big hit. Her performances in Grahan and Lajja were highly appreciated. She experimented with scripts and did the controversial Ek chhotisi love story. During a phase, she did some low-budget films too. Her Tamil flicks include Indian, Mudhalvan, Alavandhan, Baba and Mumbai Express. She forayed into Malayalam cinema with Elektra. She was then seen in Partho Ghosh’s Ek Second... jo zindagi badal de and Onir’s I am. Her next is Deepti Naval’s directorial debut Do paise kid hoop, char aane ki bearish. She married businessman Samrat Dahal 2010 and divorced him in 2012. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer but is now cancer free.
