Biography: Mariah Carey is a seasoned singer, actress, record producer and songwriter. She made her debut with the self-titled album Mariah Carey in 1990. The album was a smash hit and her other albums such as Emotions (1991), Music Box (1993), Merry Christmas (1994), Daydream (1995) and Butterfly (1997) followed. After a relatively dormant stage in her singing career, Carey made a comeback with the album The Emancipation of Mimi (2005). Some of the movies that she has worked in include The Bachelor (1999), Glitter (2001), WiseGirls (2002), Death of a Dynasty (2003), State Property 2 (2005), Tennessee (2008), You Don't Mess with the Zohan (2008), Precious (2009) and The Butler (2013). She is the recipient of a number of awards which include five Grammy Awards, 19 World Music Awards, 11 American Music Awards, and 31 Billboard Music Awards. In addition, Mariah Carey is also actively involved in a number of charities and welfare activities. She is known for her association with the Make a Wish Foundation that strives to fulfill the wishes of children with terminal illness.
