Biography: Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a film director, producer, screenwriter and music director. He started his career as an assistant to Vidhu Vinod Chopra in movies such as Parinda, 1942: A Love Story and Kareeb. He made his directorial debut with Khamoshi: The Musical starring Manisha Koirala, Salman Khan and Nana Patekar. Although, the movie was not a hit, it earned rave reviews. His next film was Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, starring Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn. The movie was a huge success. He then directed Devdas, starring Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit-Nene. The movie was again a hit and also was India's submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. His next film was Black, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rani Mukerji. Next was his film Saawariya. The movie launched newcomers Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor, but fared badly at the box office. In 2010, Bhansali made Guzaarish starring Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai and in 2013, he directed Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles. His forthcoming movie is the period romance Bajirao Mastani.
