Biography: Actress Zubeida can be called one of Indian cinemas first superstar in every sense of the term. Belonging to royalty (she was a Muslim princess), Zubeida had her audience enthralled with her stunning beauty and mesmerizing grace. Her mother Fatima Begum was the country's first woman film director and a superstar of the silent movie era. She was instrumental in shaping her daughter’s career and Zubeida starred in her first movie Kohinoor at the young age of 12. This was in itself quite a first considering a girl working in cinemas was still not acceptable then. She acted in first Indian talkie movie Alam Ara (1931). Her early hits include Devdas (1937), Sagar Movietone's first talkie, Meri Jaan, Kalyan Khajina, Veer Abhimanyu, Desh Ka Dushman, Laila Majnu, Nanand Bhojai and Naval Gandhi's Sacrifice. Zubeida married Maharaj Narsingir Dhanrajgir Gyan Bahadur of Hyderabad.
