Dubai International Film Festival 2013: Martin Sheen to get Lifetime Achievement Award

The veteran Hollywood actor will participate in a Q&A at the film fest

Hollywood legend Martin Sheen will be honoured with the Dubai International Film Festival 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award at the fest’s opening ceremony in December.

“Martin Sheen is a cinematic legend whose remarkable career has spanned five decades,” said fest Chairman Abdulhamid Juma in a statement. “In that time he has brought to life a huge variety of compelling, intelligent and wonderfully engaging characters on the big and small screen.”

Sheen’s career includes pioneering TV production and film roles, including Terrence Malick’s 1973 Badlands to Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now in 1979 to The Amazing Spider-Man last year, Sheen joins previous Dubai lifetime achievement honorees such as Omar Sharif, Morgan Freeman, Sean Penn and Oliver Stone.

“This esteemed recognition inspires me to continue doing what I love most — telling stories through the art of cinema,” Sheen said of the award.

Festival goers will also be able to partake with a Q&A with Sheen. The festival runs December 6-14, 2013
