Abhay Deol took Tamil lessons on ‘Shanghai’ sets

Punjab da puttar Abhay Deol is going south for a role. No, no, he is not venturing in any of the southern film industries. Abhay is playing the role of a Tamilian IAS officer in Dibakar Banerjee’s political thriller, Shanghai. And to get into the skin of the character, as he always does, the actor thought it would be a good idea to learn Tamil. Abhay had a tutor on location, and he made sure he perfected every Tamil line with the help of his teacher before he shot for a scene. Dibakar Banerjee can’t stop singing praises about how Abhay spoke Tamil and Hindi with a Tamil accent fluently. The actor’s character is apparently similar to (but not based on) former Supreme Court of India Justice Santosh Hedge and his work ethics.
