Asin given award by Kerala government

Asin was recently honoured by the Kerala government for her contribution to cinema. The award is given to those achievers who are icons for the young women of Kerala. It was not surprising that despite being busy with Housefull 2 promotions, Asin took the time to dress up in a traditional white-and-gold sari and attend the function. She told a leading daily that she feels “honoured and humbled” at being chosen for the award.

Asin discovered her acting skills in Malayalam cinema. She debuted in Sathyan Anthikkad’s Narendra Makan Jayakanthan Vaka in 2001 at the age of 15 before finding commercial success in Telugu, Tamil and more recently, Hindi cinema. The bigwigs in the Kerala government apparently felt that her success and achievements make her the right choice for the award this year.
