Chakravyuh song Tata, Birla is a ‘personal attack: Censor board

We wonder why filmmaker Prakash Jha’s films always run in to some trouble or the other before their release. His latest film Chakravyuh, starring Arjun Rampal, Abhay Deol and Esha Gupta, has courted controversy, too. This time, it’s not for any issue but for a song that names the country’s top industrialists, and also an international one.

Featuring Abhay and sung by Kailash Kher, the song goes thus: Tata, Birla, Ambani aur Bata, sab ne hai desh ko kaata. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) refused to pass the song not once but twice, as it felt the lyrics seemed like a personal attack.

Chakravyuh releases on October 12, 2012 and will also premiere at the 56th BFI London Film Festival.Subscribe to me on YouTube
