Deepika Padukone to get Smita Patil Memorial Award

The Cocktail babe’s good luck is still shining bright on her. After being showered with praises for her edgy and emotional depiction of Veronica in Homi Adajania’s film, Deepika Padukone has been chosen for an award instituted in memory of the late actor Smita Patil. A socio-cultural NGO Priyadarshini Academy has decided to honour the leggy lass with the Smita Patil Memorial Award. The award function will take place September 18. The award is given to filmi folks who have made a commendable contribution in Bollywood. While many people may question the gorgeous lady’s contribution in Hinid film industry in a short span of five years, we think among all her contemporaries she’s consistently wowed her fans with her performance, even if the films didn’t work at the box office. Don’t you agree? In the past Vidya Balan, Preity Zinta, Kareena Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karisma Kapoor, Urmila Matondkar and Madhuri Dixit were felicitated with the award. So there are not many contenders for this honour.
