Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, who was admitted to a Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi for a lung infection, was shifted to the ICU on Wednesday. Doctors have said that he will continue to remain in the ICU as his condition is critical. He has been on a very high level of oxygen support requiring intermittent BIPAP and is being monitored very closely by a team of critical care specialists. Pataudi is conscious though and his cardiac functions are stable. Seventy-year-old Pataudi was admitted in August end and was diagnosed with interstitial lung disease— a condition in which the passage of oxygen to the two lungs is less than normal. The disease does not have proper or permanent cure and takes time.
