    Konkona Sen Sharma is in Kolkata shooting for Bengali film Kadambari. Kadambari Devi was the wife of Jyotirindranath Tagore and nearly the same age as his brother Rabindranath Tagore. She inspired the poet with her creative feedback and comments.  Her relationship with Tagore was controversial and much-discussed. Kadambari committed suicide four months after Rabindranath Tagore married. According to the director Aniket Chattopadhyay, Konkona had the mixture of intelligence and vulnerability which was required of the character. Meanwhile, the actor is amused by the rumours that she has quit acting. Well, some good news for Konkona fans, hain na?

    Rinke Khanna, the younger daughter of Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia  gave birth to a healthy baby boy yesterday. Rinke also has a nine year old daughter Naomika.Rinke Khanna who started her Bollywood career in 1999 with Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi did a few films like Jhankaar Beats, Yeh Hai Jalwa, Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai and Chameli before she quit acting in 2003 after she got married to industrialist Sameer Saran. In her last few weeks of pregnancy, she was accompanied by her mother Dimple Kapadia.  Rinke’s sister Twinkle Khanna too gave birth to her second child last year. Twinkle and Akshay Kumar’s daughter – Nitara recently turned one.

    Deepika Padukone to play Vadhana Devi in Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan

    Deepika Padukone character in Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan will be called Vadhana Devi. Deepika’s voice in the film will be dubbed by Savitha Reddy as the Chennai Express actor isn’t familiar with Tamil. If sources are to be believed, Deepika will not wear any make-up for the first time in a film.
    Rajinikanth will play a double role and is cast as the archetypal superhero in the epic dramatisation of good versus evil. The South Superstar performs a double role with Deepika being paired opposite the younger character. Recently the first song of Kochadaiiyaan – Engae pogudho vaanam was released.     A Mumbai-based Bollywood movie producer’s assistant was arrested in Gurgaon on Monday for molesting a married woman on the pretext of giving her a chance to act in a feature film, police said. Anu Malhotra was charged with wrongful restraint, stalking and insulting conduct.
    Police officer Balu Lal said the accused met the nearly 30-year-old victim at a mall three months ago and clicked pictures of her son, saying he needed a child for his upcoming movie. “After some time he started molesting the woman and sending her obscene pictures and SMS,” the officer said.Click here to read more

    Sholay actor Kedarnath Sahab passes away

    The character actor was seen in more than 500 films
    Mid-Day reports that veteran character actor Kedarnath Sahab aka Segal Sahab passed away on September 29. Sahab acted in popular Amitabh Bachchan films like Sholay, Amar Akbar Anthony and Deewar.
    The actor’s funeral was held on September 30. Sahab acted in over 500 films in Bollywood. He had debuted in the movie Sikandar-E-Azam starring Prithviraj Kapoor, Mumtaz and Dara Singh and directed by Kedar Kapoor.

    Film producer Thammareddy Krishnamurthy dies at 93

    The popular Telugu producer passed away Monday
    “He died early this morning due to some old age related issues at CR Foundation home for the aged in Kondapur (Andhra Pradesh),” a family friend said. Born in 1920 in Chinapalaparru village in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, Krishnamurthy started his career with theatre. He used to produce films under his home banner Ravindra Art Pictures and is known for producing several memorable Telugu classics such as Lakshadhikari, Bangarau Gajaulu, Dharma Daata, Zamindar and Doctor Babu.     Manoj Kumar discharged from hospital!

    Veteran actor Manoj Kumar, who underwent a successful gall bladder surgery here, was discharged on Monday from the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, said a hospital official. “He was discharged today,” said Ram Narain, executive director, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. The 76-year-old actor complained of pain and was admitted to the hospital on July 17. He underwent an hour-long surgery on July 24, which also happened to be his birthday. Manoj Kumar has starred in successful films like Hariyali Aur Raasta, Woh Kaun Thi? and Do Badan. He worked actively as an actor and filmmaker for about 30 years and also earned the title of ‘Bharat Kumar’ for directing patriotic films like Purab Aur Paschim and Upkar.

    Kannada producers feel foolish about banning Nikita

    The ban imposed on Kannada actor Nikita Thukral by the Kannada producers for being responsible for marital discord between actor Darshan and his wife was lifted. The question now being raised is why actor Darshan himself has not been banned. The withdrawal came three days after Nikita was banned for an alleged affair with Kannada star Darshan, who is now in jail for assaulting his wife Vijayalakshmi. The producers who effectively held her responsible for marital discord in the Darshan household now concede it was unnecessary. Kannada Producers’ Association Muniratna Naidu said, “We admit now that the ban was foolish. We’ve wronged an actress who was good and kind hearted.” Nikita, who has been keeping a low profile till now, reacted with a sigh of relief.
