Marathi actor Satish Tare passes away
Satish Tare, a comedian in Hindi and Marathi films, theatre and on television, passed away today. The actor was suffering from diabetes and had been hospitalised for gangrene, say reports. On hearing the news of his passing away, singer-composer Kaushal S Inamdar tweeted, “I am absolutely heartbroken by the news of Satish Tare’s demise. He was a brilliant actor. I sincerely wish that his soul rests in peace.”
Satish acted in movies like Balak Palak, Ek Chalis Ki Last Local, Navra Mazha Navsacha, Valu (The Wild Bull) and Nana Mama, among others. He was also seen on Marathi TV show Fu Bai Fu. May his soul rest in peace.Click here to read more
Kannada cinema mourns passing of director-writer Kunigal Nagabhushan
Kunigal Nagabhushan, the 70-year-old director-writer, belonged very much to the golden era of Kannada cinema.
Having started his career as an assistant director, he worked in several films with legends such as Dr Raj Kumar. He also scripted films in which the likes of Vishnuvardhan and Shankar Nag starred. He then went on to direct films, including one starring superstar Rajinikanth.Click here to read more

Malayalam actor-director J Sasikumar honoured with JC Daniel award
The doyen of Malayalam cinema, actor-director J Sasikumar has received the JC Daniel Award, for his outstanding contribution to cinema. The award, instituted in memory of JC Daniel, recognises people who have made a significant impact on the film industry. It comes with a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh, a citation and a memento.
The stalwart is known for creating a record of directing the most number of films – 141, most of which have starred the evergreen Prem Nazir in the lead role. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is currently busy shooting with South star Rana Daggubati who had replaced Abhishek Bachchan in the role of a grungy policeman in Department. But RGV made up for it by choosing Abhishek Bachchan for his next project. The two have worked together in Naach, Sarkar and Sarkar Raj, and are all set to come together for the remake of the Telugu film Businessman.
