Deepika Padukone to play Vadhana Devi in Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan

Deepika Padukone character in Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan will be called Vadhana Devi. Deepika’s voice in the film will be dubbed by Savitha Reddy as the Chennai Express actor isn’t familiar with Tamil. If sources are to be believed, Deepika will not wear any make-up for the first time in a film.
Rajinikanth will play a double role and is cast as the archetypal superhero in the epic dramatisation of good versus evil. The South Superstar performs a double role with Deepika being paired opposite the younger character. Recently the first song of Kochadaiiyaan – Engae pogudho vaanam was released. Bollywood movie producer’s assistant held for molestation

A Mumbai-based Bollywood movie producer’s assistant was arrested in Gurgaon on Monday for molesting a married woman on the pretext of giving her a chance to act in a feature film, police said. Anu Malhotra was charged with wrongful restraint, stalking and insulting conduct.
Police officer Balu Lal said the accused met the nearly 30-year-old victim at a mall three months ago and clicked pictures of her son, saying he needed a child for his upcoming movie. “After some time he started molesting the woman and sending her obscene pictures and SMS,” the officer said.Click here to read more

Sholay actor Kedarnath Sahab passes away

The character actor was seen in more than 500 films

Mid-Day reports that veteran character actor Kedarnath Sahab aka Segal Sahab passed away on September 29. Sahab acted in popular Amitabh Bachchan films like Sholay, Amar Akbar Anthony and Deewar.
The actor’s funeral was held on September 30. Sahab acted in over 500 films in Bollywood. He had debuted in the movie Sikandar-E-Azam starring Prithviraj Kapoor, Mumtaz and Dara Singh and directed by Kedar Kapoor.

Film producer Thammareddy Krishnamurthy dies at 93

The popular Telugu producer passed away Monday

“He died early this morning due to some old age related issues at CR Foundation home for the aged in Kondapur (Andhra Pradesh),” a family friend said. Born in 1920 in Chinapalaparru village in Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh, Krishnamurthy started his career with theatre. He used to produce films under his home banner Ravindra Art Pictures and is known for producing several memorable Telugu classics such as Lakshadhikari, Bangarau Gajaulu, Dharma Daata, Zamindar and Doctor Babu. He received the prestigious Raghupathi Venkaiah award in 2007.Click here to read more

Manoj Kumar discharged

Veteran actor Manoj Kumar, who underwent a successful gall bladder surgery here, was discharged on Monday from the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, said a hospital official. “He was discharged today,” said Ram Narain, executive director, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. The 76-year-old actor complained of pain and was admitted to the hospital on July 17. He underwent an hour-long surgery on July 24, which also happened to be his birthday. Manoj Kumar has starred in successful films like Hariyali Aur Raasta, Woh Kaun Thi? and Do Badan. He worked actively as an actor and filmmaker for about 30 years and also earned the title of ‘Bharat Kumar’ for directing patriotic films like Purab Aur Paschim and Upkar.

Dhanush and Dulquar Salman share the same birth date

Happy Birthday!

Isn’t that a happy coincidence? The two actors, one from the Tamil and the other from the Malayalam film industry will turn a year older on July 28. The two actors recently picked up the trophies at 60th Filmfare Awards of South cinema which was held last week. Dhanush bagged awards in two categories – Best Actor and Best Playback Singer. Dhanush bagged both the awards for his film 3 which was directed by his wife, Aishwarya Rajinikanth where he acted opposite Shruti Haasan. Dulquar received the Best Debut award for his noteworthy performance in Second Show directed by Srinath Rajendran. The film had won critical as well as public acclaim.
