Popular comedian Kannaiah is no more

Veteran Tamil film comedian ‘Ennatha’ Kannaiah passed away in Chennai on Tuesday. In a career spanning six decades, he had acted with many generations of actors, from yesteryear to the present era. Kannaiah got the prefix ‘Ennatha’ after he started almost every dialogue of his with ‘Ennatha’ (meaning whatever) in some of his initial movies. He started his acting career with Ezhai Padum Paadu in 1950 and followed it up with films like Moondrezhuthu, Naan and Nam Naadu, among others. In the recent flick Thottal Poo Malarum, his dialogue “Varum aana varadhu” became popular with the masses, that it was uttered by a legislator in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. Film personalities have been paying homage to Kannaiah. His body will be cremated later today.
