‘RA.One’ animator Charu Khandal’s surgery successful

Charu Khandal, who was in a critical condition after an allegedly drunk driver hit her, underwent neck surgery yesterday (March 29). The surgery has been successful and renewed hope for her full recovery. However, her friend Vikrant Goel’s condition is said to be still serious.

Charu is an animator with Shahrukh Khan’s Red Chillies production house and is part of the team that won the National Film Award for Best Special Effects for the work they put in on RA.One. In fact, she and her friends were returning from a celebratory dinner when a black Honda City, allegedly being driven by a drunk driver, rammed into the rickshaw injuring the trio early Sunday at northwest Mumbai’s Oshiwara locality. Charu Khandal, 26, suffered multiple fractures and injuries to her spinal cord in the accident early Sunday (March 25). Her sister Ritu was stable as she suffered minor injuries as did the autorickshaw driver. Vikrant is reported to still be in a critical condition. Shahrukh Khan visited Charu and her family at the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital as soon as he returned to Mumbai from London. Charu was engaged to be married by the end of this year. The trio had just dropped off her fiance at his home before the accident occurred.
