Rekha takes oath in the Rajya Sabha

Bollywood’s evergreen beauty Rekha took oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, becoming yet another personality from the B-town to enter the portals of Parliament. Rekha turned up in the Upper House at 10.57am. She was wearing a golden brown saree and was greeted by the other members of the House warmly. Rekha also met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh before taking oath. President Pratibha Patil had approved her name and that of cricketer Sachin Tendulkar for the Upper House. Renowned journalist and nominated member HK Dua offered the actor his seat and was seen explaining the procedure before Rajya Sabha Chairman, Vice President Hamid Ansari took his seat. “I Rekha Ganeshan” she said, swearing in the name of God in her brief oath in English. Welcoming Rekha to the Rajya Sabha, Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav said, “Rekha is a great artiset, we welcome her into our fraternity.”
