BIG Live has launched the BIG Salute to Bangla Women Entertainers Award campaign to honour Bangla women across eight different genres of movies, television, music, media, dance, sports and theatre. And what’s more, actor Rituparna Sengupta has been chosen as the face of this campaign. She has been roped in due to her ‘ability to don many roles’, according to BIG’s spokesman. The actor who won the National Film Festival of India Award in 1998 for Rituparno Ghosh’s Dahan was last seen in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji. She was also involved in making a niche Bollywood movie, Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh (2005). In response to this honour, the actor said, “I am ecstatic for being the face of this prestigious award,” adding, “Every woman deserves this award as their contribution to the society is overwhelming.” Way to go, lady! We couldn’t agree more.
