Ronit Roy: From lawyer in ‘Adalat’ to havaldar in ‘Shootout at Wadala’

Ronit Roy is all set to play the role of Constable Raja Tambat in Sanjay Gupta’s Shootout at Wadala. Tambat is remembered for gunning down the famous gangster Manya Surve on January 11, 1982 in Mumbai. But apart from playing this legendary character, Ronit is excited to share screen space with Anil Kapoor who is playing the role of a senior cop, Isaque Bagwan, in the same movie. Ronit’s association with Anil dates back to the time when he used to stay with Subhash Ghai as a permanent guest. Remembering that period, Ronit said in an interview, “I’ve always wanted to work with Anil bhaiyya. I know him from the time he was a regular visitor at Subhash uncle’s place. Anil bhaiyya would drop in any time. His enthusiasm for cinema was relentless. And now to be working with him is an honour.” Ronit, while we are happy that your dream of working with Anil Kapoor is coming true, we shudder at the thought of what would happen to your popular character as a lawyer in Adalat (on Sony) once you get into the mind space of a havaldar?
