Bollywoodlife‘s critic is watching Rowdy Rathore right now, and here’s what she has to say about the film: Like all remakes of regional films, Akshay Kumar’s Rowdy Rathore is filled with a loud background score, a story that flows as per the actor’s whims and fancies, songs for fun and frolic and dialogues that are intended to make you laugh but are not really funny. In the first half, Akshay Kumar tries very hard to be like Salman Khan, mouthing punchy lines and being a larger-than-life-hero by solving every problem. He does an able job of it, but there’s nothing unique in his character so far. Sonakshi Sinha’s character in the film tries to cast a spell on the hero with her latkas and jhatkas, like her role in Dabangg. Thankfully she has more dialogues in Rowdy Rathore. Just when you start getting bored watching Akshay and Sonakshi’s onscreen drama, there’s a twist in the story. Hopefully, the script will gather pace in the second half and what unfolds would be worthwhile.
