Shekhar Kapoor prays for Jagjit Singh

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor and ghazal singer Jagjit Singh go back a long way, so no doubt when Singh was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai today after he suffered a brain hemorrhage, he was a concerned man. Way back in 1983 when Kapoor made his directorial debut with Masoom, the ghazal maestro had sung the song ‘Huzoor is kadar bhi na itraake chaliye’ which is still loved by one and all. Immediately after the news of Singh’s hospitalization came out, Kapoor posted a message on Twitter “Praying fr Ghazal Singer Jagjit Singh critically ill in hospital.” The doctors at the Lilavati Hospital in suburban Bandra have performed a life-saving surgery on him and he is currently under observation and is stated to be in critical condition. The Masoom directed re-tweeted a post – “Sunte hain ki mil jaati hai har cheez mil jaati hai dua se, aaj tumhe maang ke dekhenge khuda se.” (roughly translates to: We hear that we are granted whatever we pray for, today we will ask the Almighty for you, Jagjit Singh). We hope for the ghazal maestro’s speedy recovery.

Excuse me! “Huzoor is kadar bhi na itra ke chaliye” is sung by Bhupinder Singh & Suresh Wadkar.

Get your facts right – Jagjit singh has nothing to do with Huzur is Kadar – it was sung by Bhupinder and Suresh Wadkar
