Shootout at Wadala: Sanjay Gupta denied anticipatory bail
Gupta last month sent out invites for the promotion of his upcoming film Shootout at Wadala on a letterhead that resembled that of Mumbai’s police commissioner. An FIR was registered against Gupta February 29 and he was booked under several non-bailable sections. Police had issued summons to Gupta, asking him to present himself to explain his case or face arrest Friday. Gupta approached the court Saturday for anticipatory bail.
The film, produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms and Gupta’s White Feather Films, is based on a real life incident that took place in the 1990s and narrates the story of a shootout that took place in Wadala in central Mumbai. The multi-starrer will have Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Tusshar Kapoor and Kangna Ranaut playing pivotal roles.
