Vidya Balan’s The Dirty Picture may be a Bollywood film, but it continues to flirt with its southern counterparts, especially Kollywood (as the Tamil film industry is popularly known). Vidya’s character Silk draws inspiration from various southern sirens, including Silk Smitha and Polyester Padmini. Now we hear that the makers of the movie have officially acquired the rights of the Tamil song Nakka mukka from the 2008 film Kadhalil Vizunthen. It will feature in the film as Vidya’s theme track and will be played at the turning points in her character’s life. Apparently, director Milan Luthria heard the original song while shooting at Ramoji Film City. He felt that the song perfectly matched Vidya’s character and so approached the song’s owners for the rights. Interestingly, Nakka mukka was played at the inauguration ceremony of the Indian Premier League 2011.
