The film adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s 2 States has become the third biggest opener of this year
After great reviews from critics, Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s cross cultural love story is well received by the audience as well. On the first day, the film raked in Rs 12.13 crore on the first day.
The Arjun-Alia starrer has received the third biggest opening in 2014 after Salman Khan’s Jai Ho and Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor’s Gunday. Talking about the film’s business, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “2States India Fri Rs 12.42 cr, Sat 12.13 cr. Total: Rs 24.55 cr nett. India biz. Excellent!”
Apart from the Indian markets, the film has done well in the international markets as well. Adarsh tweeted, “2States *New Zealand* Thu NZ$ 9,335, Fri NZ$ 22,939, Sat NZ$ 17,143. Total: NZ$ 49,417 [Rs 25.57 lacs]… #Gunday *wknd* NZ$ 41,304”“2States *Australia* Thu A$ 13,841, Fri A$ 63,315, Sat A$ 45,766. Total: A$ 122,922 [Rs 69.19 lacs]… #Gunday *wknd* A$ 100,974”.
