As the Talaash actor turns 48 today, we take a look at how he has broken several box office records through his sheer acting prowess and left the other Khans behind
Such is the magical touch that Aamir Khan brings to his movies – whether in the capacity of an actor, producer or director – that he gives an impression of being truly invincible. Behind his humility, there is a sharp mind at play which is carefully planning every move. So even as he surprises the trade as well as the industry by deciding to do a movie like Talaash with a relatively new director like Reema Kagti, he spends almost two years strategising Talaash around his home productions – Peepli (Live), Dhobi Ghat and Delhi Belly.
Expectedly, all four of them earned moolah at the box office, and Talaash turned out to be an experiment with Aamir’s presence looming large (as usual). All seems well set for Aamir at this stage – Dhoom:3, despite one year in the making, will finally make it to the marquee this Christmas and hopefully turn out to be what the producer expects it to be.
“The only release Aamir Khan has this year is Dhoom:3, which is perceived to be a blockbuster since the day it was announced! The Dhoom franchise and a superstar of the stature of Aamir Khan make for a deadly combination. I would hope to see Dhoom:3 overtaking the box office benchmark set by the Perfectionist actor’s own 3 Idiots which raked in over Rs 200 crores in India. On his birthday, here’s wishing Mr Khan happiness, peace and many many more blockbusters in the years to come!” said leading exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi.
More power to the man!
