The National Commission for Scheduled Castes honoured the actor-turned-TV host for creating social awareness through his show Satyamev Jayate
Post the phenomenal success of 3 Idiots, any other superstar would have signed at least a dozen big banner films, but our ‘Perfectionist’ actor, Aamir Khan preferred to take a break and spent two years doing research for the first-of-its-kind TV show Satyamev Jayate, which ran only for 13 weeks but certainly woke up the conscience of Indians for all time. And just how his films break box office records, Aamir’s popular show too broke all TRP ratings on the small screen!
On October 18, the National Commission for Scheduled Castes honoured both Aamir and Uday Shankar, CEO, Star India for creating awareness against social discrimination through the issue-based reality show Satyamev Jayate. Aamir said, “I feel very special today. I am humbled with the kind of love, respect and support that you people have given to me. This honour is not just for my team but also for my team who worked very hard on the show that we were able to understand it and present it to all of you.”
The ceremony that was held in New Delhi also saw the presence of several political leaders, including union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni and Minister for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Kumari Selja besides Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dixit.
Congratulations, Aamir! Looking forward to more Satyamev Jayates from you and of course, more honours, too!
