Considered a flop Mr Perfectionist’s 1989 movie had bagged three national awards. Cinegoers can enjoy this intense drama in theatres this June
Released in 1989 Aamir Khan starrer Raakh is an important movie for more than one reason. The film was Aamir’s first project after Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and wasn’t accepted well by the audience at the time, however it received much critical acclaim and subsequently bagged three national awards in 1989. It has developed a considerable following over the years. The film also marked the Bollywood debut of ace cinematographer Santosh Sivan, and film editor A. Sreekar Prasad. Veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor had bagged the national award in the best supporting actor category for his intense performance in the movie.
And now we hear that the movie will be re-released in India in June. Asif Noor, the film’s Dubai-based producer, said in an interview, “We had initially planned to release the film in April-May, but then decided to push it ahead due to elections. We are working around the availability of stars for a common dinner. Things should be finalised in a couple of days.”
