I just tried to be the best producer, says Abhishek talking about his recently released film Pyaar ka Punchnama, which is becoming a rage among youngsters, especially the boys
Pyaar ka Punchnama producer Abhishek Pathak is a director himself, something that few people may know. In fact, he has won a National Award for his debut film, Boond. The film made the rounds of festivals the world over and concluded its journey by winning top honours at home. Being the son of Kumar Mangat Pathak, a well known producer, helped Abhishek balance the artistic and commercial aspects of cinema, he believes. When we asked him whether it wasn’t tempting to chip in with his directorial inputs while sitting at the monitor overseeing the goings-on, the young producer said, “All the suggestions that I had to offer to Luv Ranjan (director) were made in the initial stages. Once the shoot started, I would be present, but would keep my mouth shut as far as providing directorial inputs was concerned. It has been Luv’s baby all the while and I have tried to be the best producer. It is not that I was tight-lipped throughout the shoot; actually, we used to have insane fun pulling each others’ leg, and we bonded well over the two years in which the film was made.” Going by the clarity this Pathak lad has, he sure seems to be in the game for a long innings!
