After Ajay and Salman, Sunny Deol to do a remake

But unlike the others, Sunny will star in a drama and not an action film

Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn have both starred in Hindi remakes of south Indian films – whether it was Pokiri that became Wanted or Singham that became, er, Singham. So can our original action hero Sunny Deol be far behind? He has signed up to play the lead in the remake of a superhit Malayalam movie, Traffic. But don’t expect his dhai kilo ke fists to fly furiously. Traffic is more of a dramatic film along the lines of the Hollywood flick Crash, with hardly any action. It has a superstar, a journalist, a doctor and two cops as its principal characters, whose fates get intertwined when there is a huge traffic accident. Sunny will play the movie star (naturally), while Jimmy Shergill will be the doctor, and Imaad Shah will be the comatose journalist. Talks are on with Nana Patekar and Manoj Bajpai to play one of the cops, while a Bollywood biggie, whose name is still a secret, will do a cameo as the other cop. Rajesh Pillai who directed the Malayalam flick, will helm this one too. We would love to see a different side of Sunny and it’s great he is reinventing himself (he is doing a romcom too), but we do hope we don’t end up wishing he had stuck to his dishoom dishoom side.
