After youngsters and adults, Karan Johar will now woo kids!

The Agneepath producer is almost ready with his children’s film, Gippi

Bollywood has a serious dearth of children’s films, and there are very few directors like Vishal Bhardwaj who occasionally make one or two kiddy flicks. Recently films like Taare Zameen Par, Stanley Ka Dabba and Chillar Party, films aimed mainly at the little ones, not only won critical acclaim, but did well at the BO too! It seems that Karan Johar has been inspired by these success stories and decided to produce one himself.

We heard that Sonam Nair, who assisted Ayan Mukerji on Wake Up Sid, had a story about a teenage girl called Gippi; Karan liked it, and asked Sonam to direct it. Though busy with his own film – Student Of The Year – KJo was apparently so impressed by the story of Gippi that he wanted to produce it as well. We hear that the debut director has already shot a major portion of Gippi in Shimla and a Delhi-based girl called Riya Vij plays the title role. We are eager to watch this one when it releases – and kudos to Karan for mentoring so many new talents!
