AIYYAA new song Sava dollar: Rani Mukerji wants to be a heroine

Watch the lavani number from director Sachin Kundalkar’s debut film

Aiyya, produced by Anurag Kashyap, is one of the eagerly awaited films this year. The makers have got the promotional campaign right and kudos to them for that. The Dreamum wakeupum song, cheesy and tacky as it is, is being appreciated by those who understand its spoofy intent. Of course, there are naysayers who are comparing Rani’s ‘dirty’ act with that of Vidya Balan in The Dirty Picture, and we did point it out too. Director Sachin Kundalkar’s Bollywood directorial debut seems to have created the right buzz for a film of this kind.

The makers have just released the Sava dollar song, which is a lavani number, somewhat tweaked. Rani Mukerji looks convincing as the Marathi mulgi next door having fun, even if she does have more…err…filling in the middle than we are used to seeing, especially after Dil Bole Hadippa and No One Killed Jessica. Unfortunately, the lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya made us cringe a bit. In the video Rani is seen offering $1.25 to be cast as a heroine. We understand it’s a spoof, but we did expect better from the folks who gave us wonderful albums like Dev.D and Udaan.

Watch the song and tell us what you think about Sava dollar
