Ajay Devgn denies plans for ‘Phool Aur Kaante’ sequel

While the producer of Phool Aur Kaante is making a big noise about a sequel to the Singham star’s first film, Ajay himself is shocked and surprised, and says there is nothing brewing in that pot

The producer of Phool Aur Kaante Dinesh Patel claims that he is set to make the sequel to Ajay Devgn’s first film. That’s not all. Patel insists that he has had initial talks with the Singham star and they have agreed to get the beautiful Sonakshi Sinha for the film. And, instead of roping in the original director Kuku Kohli to helm the project, they want to get the star’s director-friend Rohit Shetty with whom Ajay has had the biggest box-office hits of his career. But soon after we first heard the rumour, Ajay’s spokesperson quickly rejected the idea. The star’s official statement read: “We deny this news and also deny that talks of such a project have ever taken place. There is no such project in discussion and all stories with regards to this film are untrue.” Also, looking at the actor’s existing commitments – Bol Bachchan, Vishal Bhardwaj film, an Ashwin Chaudhary film, Golmaal – we doubt that he has time or the mind space for anything new. Anyways thank God it’s not happening. There are already more than enough film sequels and remakes happening, like Agneepath, Don 2, Double Dhamaal, Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai 2, Dhoom 3, Rock On!!, Delhi Belly sequel…phew! And if this trend continues, Bollywood will soon turn into a factory rehashing tried and tested formulae. Time to get original, guys!
