Desi Boyz’s bold premise is bothering a lot of moral individuals but the film’s lead actor feels there is nothing controversial in the film
David Dhawan’s son Rohit’s first film Desi Boyz maybe be promoted as a light-hearted entertainer but fundamentally the film is about two out-of-work men who turn in to male escorts to survive. And it has raised eyebrows of some moral individuals around. Recently, at a press meet the film’s hero Akshay Kumar was asked if he thought it was alright to make such a bold film. “It’s strange that you can watch a film on female prostitution but have a problem with a film on male escorts! In this film, we are fulfilling women’s costume fantasy, like she wants to know if she can be with an air force officer, doctor or a banker. And these stories are not just the work of fiction but happening in real. But yes, even I was shocked when Rohit (director) came to me with the script and told me that my character was of a male escort. When he narrated the film I understood what it was all about. The film shows reality and how far a person would go when pushed against the wall.” Well, we don’t know about the wall, but if Desi Boyz turns out to be another of Akshay’s bad comedy films we doubt if his fans will continue the love and affection for their superstar.
