Akshay Kumar not interested in buying rights to ‘Kolaveri di’

The Desi Boyz actor refutes reports that he has bought the rights to the Tamil chartbuster

Why this kolaveri di has become an anthem of sorts and many unofficial spoofs, versions and spin-offs inspired by the original song are making the rounds on the Internet. An interesting speculation related to the song was also that Shahrukh Khan was interested in buying the rights of the Hindi version of the popular Tanglish song, but Akshay Kumar beat the Khan to it and got hold of the rights. But these reports have turned out to be a piece of somebody’s hyperactive imagination as Akshay Kumar rubbished these rumours in an interview with a daily. “The song is not being remade in Hindi. The song has been heard in its original version by everybody across the globe, and therefore is not an economically viable option as a Hindi remake. Nobody will listen to it,” said the Khiladi Kumar. It‘s now learnt from the industry sources that Akshay has actually bought the rights a Telugu song and is keen on using it in one of his upcoming films. Though the song will be essentially in Telugu, it will also have Hindi lyrics. Now will this song be as hummable and catchy as Dhanush’s Kolaveri di? We’ll have to wait to find that out!
