The macho actor was at the Eden Gardens to promote his forthcoming release, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again but he failed to get any footage
When Akshay Kumar, Imran Khan and Sonakshi Sinha entered the Eden Gardens wearing special T-shirts designed to promote their forthcoming movie, the trio must have thought that they will woo the cameras with their starry presence. The tagline on their white tees roared Once Upon A Time In IPL – very similar to their upcoming release, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Again. Clearly, the three had turned up at the high octane game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Daredevils of IPL 6 to promote their film. But contrary to what Akki had anticipated, the cameras refused to focus on them and the three stars were royally snubbed by the lenses.
Later, it was found that the cameras were operating at the behest of the administration officials who refused to give Akki and his team even a second of the air time.
We learn that according to IPL’s stringent code of conduct, stars can’t indulge in such cheeky promotional campaigns without an official agreement. Though IPL is seen as a massive PR tool by B-town celebs to promote their projects, the tournament makes it mandatory for them to seek prior permission for such promotional drives. We also hear that Akki was not exactly kicked about the idea of wearing the T-shirt but the promotional team of his film convinced the star that the gimmick would work in his favour.
