After his super-successful film Housefull 2, the macho star has delivered his second major hit of the year

What a year this is turning out to be for Akshay Kumar! Even before he could bask in the glory of Housefull 2, which netted a whopping Rs 100 crore at the box office, Akshay delivered one more superhit film, this time around in his Rowdy avatar. Prabhu Deva’s over the top drama has actually worked in Akshay’s favour and the film has gone past the hugely desirable Rs 100 crore mark.

After collecting Rs 79 crore in the first week, Rowdy Rathore continued to roar at the BO in the second week as well. The cash registers kept clinking as Akki’s fan thronged the theatres to watch their favourite star going Dhandang dhang.. with Sonakshi Sinha. Even in the second week Rowdy Rathore bagged Rs 22 crore, making the film a stupendous success and surpassing a century at the collection centers.

It was speculated that Dibakar Banerjee’s political thriller Shanghai would eat into Rowdy Rathore’s success. But Akki has proven his critics wrong, yet again. Though Shanghai enjoyed a decent opening, it was nowhere close to Prabhu Deva’s production as far weekend collections are concerned. The audience has certainly lapped up Akki’s Rathore and the Khiladi Kumar must be supremely happy that his solo hit has brought him back into the reckoning.
