Akshay Kumar’s ROWDY RATHORE trailer induces headache!

The trailer, out today, seems like a mix-and-match of Wanted, Singham and Dabangg

Director Prabhu Deva’s last Hindi film was the Salman Khan-Ayesha Takia-starrer Wanted, and if the trailer of his forthcoming film, Rowdy Rathore, is anything to go by, things have only got worse. This time around, Akshay Kumar is filling in for Salman while Sonakshi Sinha is playing the love interest. The trailer reminds you of Ajay Devgn’s Singham, albeit on adrenalin. Sample the dialogues – “Jo main bolta hoon wo main karta hoon, jo main nahin bolta wo main definitely karta hoon.” (I do what I say. What I don’t say, I definitely do). Sample another one – “Apun ka fatka, 440 ka jhatka“. (My whacking is equivalent to a 440 Volts’ shock.)

The trailer is replete with the Khiladi Kumar beating up goons and sending them flying away in all directions; gravity be damned. There’s a beeped out cuss-word in it too, just to complete the effect. The most surprising thing in the video is when you see that the film has been produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who is probably a little too desperate for a hit, due to which he has lent his name to this mass entertainer. All said, Rowdy Rathore, at best comes across as a wannabe-Wanted-aspiring-to-be-Singham-plus-Dabangg. Who knows this could be Akki’s first solo-hero hit film after all these years. Do watch the trailer and let us know what you think.

Just watched RR, will be pniostg my review soon but just wanted to post some of my thoughts here.I loved the film but I can’t say Akshay’s character is iconic, why? because in a way he’s doing everything that Chulbul Pandey and Singham is doing. It’s quite obvious that Wanted, Dabangg, Singham and RR are similar but to me Singham’s character was the most powerful and Ajay Devgan did one hell of a job portraying Singham. Singham overall as a film is a much better product compared to RR (nothing to take away from RR at the same time). The dialogues, the villain, the background score, the entire atmosphere was just amazing in Singham. One of RR’s flaw to me was the villain and this was Singham’s strength, Prakash Raj. Prakash Raj was the MAN in Singham and this was RR’s villain was missing. If I look at RR on its own then I would say its a great film and I recommend it to everyone but when I compare this to Dabangg, Singham, and Wanted, I would say I prefer Singham more. The sad part is that Akshay should’ve been the first actor to bring this South genre into BW, he should’ve done this few years back.
