Alia Bhatt’s box office success overshadows Kangana Ranaut’s Revolver Rani!

Dharma Productions latest venture 2 States has literally created hungama at the box office. After raking in around Rs 38 crore in the opening weekend, this romantic drama has continued it’s good run at the box office and is still going steady. Impressive, hai na?

Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor’s first film together 2 States has set cash registers jingling and how! The film adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s bestselling novel of the same name is slowly inching towards the Rs 100 crore club. In that case, Karan Johar and Sajid Nadiadwala’s maiden collaboration has indeed turned out to be a huge success. In its first weekend, Alia and Arjun starrer collected Rs 38.06 crore and the film has fared well in the second week as well.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “2 States [Week 2] Fri: 3.51 cr, Sat: 5.55 cr, Sun: 6.47. Grand total – 76.30 cr nett. India biz. SUPER HIT!” In fact, Abhishek Varman’s directorial debut has been appreciated by masses around the globe. Adarsh wrote on Twitter, “2 States has emerged the biggest opener of 2014 [so far] in USA-Canada. AWESOME! Source: Rentrak.”

Since Alia Bhatt’s film is doing amazingly well at the box office, it has affected Kangana Ranaut’s latest outing Revolver Rani’s prospect at the ticket windows. With movie buffs thronging the theatres to watch Ms Bhatt and Arjun’s North-meets-South love story, Kangy’s black quirky comedy has taken a backseat.

Guess the Highway starlet is hogging away all the limelight. We don’t blame her, after all Alia too is supremely talented, hai na?
