The who’s who of B-town were awarded for their contribution to the Bollywood industry
The 143rd Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards ceremony (not to be confused with Government of India’s ‘Dadasaheb Phalke Award’) was held yesterday, May 3, 2012 at Juhu’s Tulip Star Hotel. Included in the list of celebs who attended the event were Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu, yesteryear actor Sulochana, Kajol, Ali Zafar, Vinod Khanna and many more.
As per the original plan Aamir Khan was supposed to unveil the wax statue of Dadasaheb Phalke, but he missed the event and so Big B was called upon to do the honours. Apart from this, the rest of the event went as per schedule.
While B-town actors like Amitabh Bachcan, Vinod Khanna, Ali Zafar were awarded with Phalke Ratna, Legendary Actor and Phalke New Talent Award respectively, Indian television wasn’t left out. Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar received the awards for Best Actor – Television.
