It’s a blink-and-miss role for Amitabh Bachchan, but he takes pride in his first Hollywood stint
Amitabh Bachchan is playing the role of Meyer Wolfsheim in Baz Luhrmann’s 3D adaptation of The Great Gatsby, a classic novel by F Scott Fitzgerald. Big B’s sequence was shot in Sydney, and at the time, during the shoot the actor had expressed his excitement about working with a foreign crew. “Another land another place…same profession, but working conditions and systems so different … a joy to see and observe so much.” Amitabh wrote on microblogging site Twitter. That excitement has not yet abated. He wrote on his blog a couple of days ago that it was “a sheer delight to work with someone of such great genius as Baz Luhrmann and a host of co stars that have astronomical presence in the world of cinema…”
The first trailer of The Great Gatsby, which also showcases Amitabh, is set to release online later tonight (May 22). Bachchan wrote on his blog that he did the one-scene appearance as a friendly gesture. He added that he was simply thrilled to work with “giants” Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio and did not wish for any remuneration for the small role. “Leonardo and Tobey would be more than willing to rehearse if you demanded it and would give each rehearsal the same deliverance as they would, were they to be asking for one themselves,” he blogged. We are sure they have the same to say about you, Mr Bachchan!
