The late Sholay actor’s son is proudly assisting Sajid in the Himmatwala remake
What’s common between Rensil D’Silva, Ayan Mukerji, Punit Malhotra and Karan Malhotra? Well, all of them started off their B-town journey as assistant directors (AD) before making their debut as independent filmmakers. Now, Amjad Khan’s son Seemaab Khan too is kickstarting his Bolly career as an AD.
Industry insiders explain that in most cases, taking the AD route is more of a preparation than a bid to make inroads into Bollywood, as most of them already happen to be star kids or come from filmi families. It’s learnt that Seemaab’s brother is a close friend of Sajid Khan and he recommended him for the Himmatwala remake. Sajid has immense respect for the late Amjad bhai who is his childhood idol. He was happy to have Seemaab on board. “Seemaab is very committed towards his work. He’s a fabulous guy and is loved by the entire unit,” said Sajid.
Seemaab has all the reason to start with Sajid’s Himmatwala remake, as his late father played Sher Singh Bandookwala in the original, the role now being essayed by Mahesh Manjrekar. We wish Seemaab all the very best and hope to see him direct his first big film soon!
